The Associated Press reports that former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre is working on an as-yet untitled memoir about his 12 years with the team and egomaniacal monster/force of pure evil George Steinbrenner. Torre will get a writing assist from Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci. No word on what Doubleday is paying Torre for his memories, but it's probably more than the Yankees offered him on that lousy one-year contract.
Look for the Torre story sometime in 2009.

you know, yankees not only read, but they can count. all the way to 26, which is how many championship rings we have despite our terrible 7 year drought...

for any fan of baseball, this could be a hell of a read if torre skewers steinbrenner. too bad it is going to take until 2009. where is an insta-book when you need one!
