Great story on David Sedaris over at EW.com in which he defends James Frey and asks an excellent and extremely pointed question about Oprah's treatment of the beleagured (and very bad) faux memoirist. I didn't think it was possible to love Sedaris more, but apparently it is!
His new collection, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, comes out June 3. Watch this space for a review.

I'm not sure that's a defense of Frey as much as a condemnation of Oprah. Either way, Frey's book is not bad because it's clearly not true, it's bad because it's poorly written and uninteresting.
As far as Oprah--yeah, she's a hypocrite. But so is mostly everyone with some degree of success.
