Brad Meltzer and Samuel L. Jackson

Local hero Brad Meltzer came home to South Florida from the San Diego ComicCon International last Brad weekend with quite a memento - he won an Eisner Award for Best Single Issue Story for Justice League. The Eisner is named after legendary cartoonist Will Eisner, creator of The Spirit and several award-winning graphic novels. The award is considered the Oscars of comics, only the judges make intelligent choices that are far less egregious than the ones frequently made by Oscar voters...Marisa Tomei and My Cousin Vinny, anyone?

We have it on good authority that Brad was honored to be Sam nominated. We also heard a rumor that he may have swooned when he was presented the award by Samuel L. Jackson. But who wouldn't, really?

Brad's new thriller Book of Lies comes out Sept. 2; he appears at Books & Books in Coral Gables Sept. 6.
