And Oprah's book club pick is...

Edgar ...not another self-help tome, praise the Lord. It's David Wroblewski's The StoryO  of Edgar Sawtelle, which Oprah calls "the best book I've read in a long, long, long time" and compares to the work of John Steinbeck and Harper Lee.

Isn't this a book about a dog? How can it be compared to Steinbeck and Lee? Must be something I'm missing.

It's not really a book about a dog...Think of it more as a retelling of Hamlet, with dogs, and then maybe all the fuss will make more sense! It's not Marley and Me.

Our reviewer wrote that she generally dislikes sentimentality over animals in books, but that that wasn't the case with Edgar Sawtelle. It's gotten great reviews. Oprah's just jumping on the bandwagon...which is OK with me, better she choose an interesting book than another self help tome.
