Christopher Paolini's Brisingr, the third volume in his Inheritance trilogy, broke the record for sales of 
childrens' books for Random House last weekend, Publisher's Weekly reports. The book, which has something to do with flying dragons, sold 550,000 copies on its first day of print. Not quite Harry Potter/Stephenie Meyer numbers but pretty impressive nonetheless.
First day sales were four times that of Eldest, the second book in the Inheritance cycle. says PW.
You can congratulate Paolini - who reportedly wrote the first book, Eragon, when he was 15 - at 7 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Theatre on South Beach, where he's appearing for Books & Books. Tickets required and available with purchase of Brisingr at any B&B location.
