I think what I like most about Naples novelist Kristy Kiernan is her unabashed love for Florida. Unlike most of the whiners who live here - and you know who you are - Kiernan, who moved her when she was 1, loves the place, specifically southwest Florida.
"I have the same frustrations so many of us do in seeing all the changes, but what are you going to do?" she says. "There are still so many places of beauty, so you go find them."
The author's latest novel, the compelling Matters of Faith, is set in her corner of the world, and the gripping story is surely going to make this one a book club staple, with its questions of family, faith and forgiveness. I was sucked in from the first few pages.
Read my story on Kiernan, who appears 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Books & Books in Bal Harbour.
