New edition of Kindle on the way - in 2009

Sony updated its e-reader in time for the upcoming holidays, so it's inevitable to read that Tech Crunch is reporting that Amazon's Kindle 2 is due out in the first quarter of next year.

Writer Michael Arrington reports that the upgraded electronic reading device was originally planned to hit the website in October, in time to entice the few people who still can afford to buy holiday gifts, but that Jeff Bezos postponed the release to get some of the software upgraded. Arrington goes on to say that the new Kindle isn't as fat as the original, that it's longer and that the new version will eliminate some of the button issues users complained about.
