Here at BtC we do take requests, and someone who is intelligent and literate suggested I write something commemorating the birth 400 years ago of John Milton. Because she is my editor and thus has control over pretty much everything I write, I thought this was an excellent idea.
John Milton was born on Dec. 9 400 years ago. He wrote Paradise Lost, which I am sure some English teacher forced me to read at some point during the long-ago years of my dismal education, but I can't quite be sure because I have no memory of it. But I am sure it is an excellent poem (or novel or play or sonnet or haiku, or whatever it might be).
NPR had a much more entertaining way of marking the event, so if you are a fan of this Paradise thing, perhaps you should head over there.
