No, it's not a manual on how to teach your kids chemistry so they don't have to attend public school. But this collection of short stories - the American debut of Canadian writer Carol Windley - can certainly teach you something about human nature (the good and the bad).
I had no plans to review this book, but when I was sick with a recent, grotesque sinus infection I pulled it off the pile, started reading and didn't stop. The stories are mostly set on Vancouver Island and deal mostly, but not exclusively, with young women coming to terms with their family entanglements.
