Publisher's Weekly reports that federal judge Deborah Batts issued a temporary restraining order against publication of 60 Years Later: Coming Through the Rye by Swedish writer Fredrick Colting. Holden Caulfield is protected by copyright, Batts ruled - the first time for such a ruling, according to PW - but did not rule on whether use of Holden was allowable under fair use. Salinger's attorneys, of course, want the book blocked permanently. Stay tuned!
