Tequila and boxing are two things I try to stay far away from, but if you are person who enjoys those things and are a student of intriguing Miami history, you might want to check out the book launch for Ferdie Pacheco's Tales from the 5th St. Gym.
The free event runs from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at El Scorpion Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar at 433 Washington Ave. in Miami Beach, and Pacheco (Muhammad Ali's famous "fight doctor") will attend to sign copies of his 30th book, which features photos and essays from the "golden age" of boxing in Miami (1951-1992). No RSVP necessary.
Interesting tidbit: the old 5th St. Gym was a mere block from the location of the launch party.
Wow. Now I really want a margarita.
