So you want an Eat, Pray, Love experience without having to leave Miami? Elizabeth Gilbert traveled to Italy, India and Indonesia to write her mega bestseller; me, I'd rather to go to Rome and eat my weight in pasta every night and skip the whole spirituality part, but who am I to judge?
Anyway, The Sonesta Bayfront Hotel in Coconut Grove is offering a 2-night "Eat Pray Love" package Aug. 13-15. For $199 per person, you can spend a weekend eating, praying, loving - and watching the movie, which stars Julia Roberts, James Franco and Javier Bardem and was directed by Glee creator Ryan Murphy.
Here's the lineup of activities for the weekend:
Aug: 13 - An Italian picnic dinner with wine or champagne and a private screening of Eat Pray Love at Paragon Grove theaters. Cannolis in your room afterward!
Aug. 14 - Meditation at Dharma Studio in the Grove to get your spirituality on, followed by a prix-fixe Indian dinner at the Sonesta's Panorama restaurant.
Aug. 15 - I guess this is the "love" part, but as far as I can tell it does not include Javier Bardem, which is puzzling indeed. Guests can stroll or bike around the Grove and sail in the bay and think pleasant thoughts about Javier, I guess.
You can reserve a spot online at www.sonesta.com/coconutgrove with the code EPL08 or call 1-800-SONESTA.
Too cheap to spring for the getaway package? See Eat Pray Love in theaters Aug. 13. And for all you EPL haters out there: check out the New York Times bestsellers. The book is back at no. 1 on the paperback nonfiction list.
