Beach reads - even without the beach

Stay Yes, it's been storming all weekend - at least if you live in South Florida - and, in fact, even as I write this black clouds are gathering and thunder is sending my dogs hiding under the desk.

But bad weather doesn't mean you can't curl up with a good summer book, just that you can't do it at the beach or by the pool.

I suggested some summer books back on Memorial Day; now, Herald staff writer (and Friend of the Blog) Hannah Sampson offers a few suggestions of her own, including Allie Larkin's Stay, which I have not read. But the cover is irresistible - the dog pictured there is Larkin's own - and practically screams out for dog lovers to pick it up.
