Last week a Sony spokesman said the company would not be dropping prices on its e-readers to compete with recent price drops by Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
But that was last week.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, Sony did drop its prices. The wi-fi enabled Daily Edition drops from $349 to $299; the Touch Edition drops from $199 to $169; and the Pocket Edition, formerly $169, is now $149.
Although before you buy any e-reader, consider this story from MacWorld, about a study that apparently shows reading on paper is faster than reading on an e-reader.

And funnily enough, I still don't want one, especially after today's news that reading on an e-reader is slower going than reading a printed book...But before that, too.
