``The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver. Shriver's novel explores what happens if a married woman kisses a man she finds attractive -- and, in alternating chapters -- what happens if she doesn't. Nobody knows more about human nature than Shriver, and this book isn't just a terrific read, it's a scary one. She knows all our secrets.''

Didn't Gwyneth Paltrow already star in the movie version?

I don't think it's been made into a movie. but your comment sent me to google to find out, and i found this--the lede of the NYTimes review of shriver's book. maybe it's what you're thinking of:
"The idea of an alternate life — the road not taken — has captivated artists for years, giving us such disparate tales as Henry James's "Jolly Corner," in which the hero glimpses the man he might have been had he not moved to Europe, and the movie "Sliding Doors," in which Gwyneth Paltrow's character finds her life taking two different paths, depending on whether she catches a certain underground train."
