O, Miami: The final week, part 1

As April draws to a close so does the poetry festival O, Miami. But there are still a few events ahead where you can get your poetry fix. Here are a few:

Tuesday, April 26: Attend the closing party for Abe's Penny Live from 7-10 p.m. at the ArtSeen Gallery, 2215 NW Second Ave. where you'll have one last chance to submit poems for publication in the literay magazine. For inspiration: photographs by Lee Materazzi, Francie Bishop Good, Samantha Salzinger and Robby Campbell, music and cocktails by Hendrick's Gin, should you require liquid courage to delve into the recesses of your soul.

Wednesday, April 27: "Poetry and Poesia: A Bilingual Reading" at 7 p.m. at the New World Center's Sun Trust Pavilion, 500 17th St. in Miami Beach features work in English and Spanish; tickets $10; students $5.

Thursday, April 28: "The Anthology of Rap" featuring Kool Moe Dee and Monie Love with poets Adrian Castro and Adrian Matejka at 7 p.m. at the New World Center; tickets $10, students $5.

Also at 10 p.m. Thursday: Literary Death March at Purdy Lounge, 1811 Purdy Ave. in Miami Beach, comes to South Forida for the first time, with judges/authors Ben Greenman (of the New Yorker) and Patricia Engel (Vida). Best of all? It's free.
