Robert Half Technology released a report about what internal employee communication tools chief information officers were using at work.
The top response was online training, with 47 percent of CIOs saying they are using it now, and 13 percent saying they would plan to use it in the next five years.
Coming in second was video conferencing with 34 percent of CIOs saying they use it now, and 18 percent saying they plan to use it in five years from now.
Twenty-four percent said they use software that uses collaborative workspaces, such as Microsoft SharePoint, and 19 percent said they plan to start using it in five years.
Coming in last was Web 2.0: tagging software (like Digg), blogs, wikis and virtual worlds. Only 11 percent said they use wikis, and 10 percent said they plan to add it in five years. But slightly more companies are using blogging: 14 percent are using it, and 11 percent plan to use it.
The survey was based on more than 1,400 telephone interviews with CIOs from a random sample of U.S. companies with 100 or more employees.
Would your work communication improve with any of the technology mentioned above? I'm actually surprised more companies didn't say they plan to implement internal wikis.
