What tech programs or gadgets do you use to keep the romantic flame burning in your long-distance relationship?
A pitch I got from the Geek Squad folks got me thinking about the role technology plays today in long distance relationships. With so much instant communication, do you think it makes it easier to have a long distance romance today than it did decades ago? Or even for long periods where they have to be away?
You could sneak in convos at work with texting or an instant messenger like Google chat. There's Skype for free video internet chat, and several AT&T cellphones have phone-to-phone live video messaging.
Online computer games or games on Xbox Live let you talk while having some competitive fun.
Sure we had instant messaging for awhile, but do you think with things like Skype it's easier to have a long distance romance? Or is it just as difficult? What applications do you use to keep in touch with a girlfriend or boyfriend that can't be near?
