Apple store is only hope of getting an iPhone 4 on launch day if you didn't preorder

Unless you planned ahead and preordered the iPhone 4 or got on a reservation list, don't bother getting up early to stand in line at a Best Buy, Radio Shack or Walmart stores to get one tomorrow. Stores just didn't get enough -- if they got any at all.

Best Buy has issued an statement saying they only have enough for some people who preordered with them last week, and they will be calling those customers to arrange pickup times.

If you want to get one at Radio Shack, you'll have to call ahead. They are taking names and will call customers as they get phones. But the stores I spoke with are not getting any Thursday, or they aren't sure. The few stores that said they got some said they only have enough for a few people on their reservation list.

After calling numerous Walmart stores in South Florida, they are saying they are either not selling them on Thursday or they are not sure. The store in Hialeah Gardens said they only got two units from Apple! That's nuts.

And don't go to AT&T either. They are only handing them out to customers who preordered. AT&T will sell it in stores starting on Tuesday June 29th.

So that just leaves Apple stores. Apple will have two lines: one for preorders pickups, and then a line for walk-in orders. So if there's any chance of getting one at launch day, it's at an Apple store.

I'm still calling stores, so I will update this post as I learn more throughout the day.
