Winn-Dixie launches app for iPhone, Android

Winndixielogo Winn-Dixie Stores, based in Jacksonville, has announced it launched an app for smartphones to help customers find deals and manage shopping lists.

Available on both the iPhone and Android phones, the free app was built by MyWebGrocer.com. It shows the closest store and lets you create and sync a shopping list to a computer or another user.

MyWebGrocer has also built apps for other stores such as Shoprite, Roche Bros, and Brookshire's, as well as Raley's, Bel Air and Nob Hill Foods stores.

Publix has had an app on the iTunes store since May, but updated it last month. The Publix apps for Android, BlackBerry and iPhone do not come with a shopping list, but do show specials such as a list of BOGOs (buy one get one free) and other discounted items.

The Publix app was built by ShopLocal, which also made an iPhone app for Kohl's.
