Skype adding Citrix’s web conferencing tools

Skype Skype, an application that lets users make voice and video calls over an Internet connection, announced Tuesday it partnered with Fort Lauderdale-based software company Citrix Systems, which focuses on virtual computing and business collaboration through Web-based tools.

Gotomeeting2 David Gurlé, vice president and general manager of Skype Enterprise, made the announcement as part of his keynote at Enterprise Connect 2011 in Orlando. The partnership means Skype will be using Citrix’s GoToMeeting technology to offer new Web and audio conferencing tools.

Gurlé wrote on his blog Tuesday that when GoToMeeting is added toward the end of the year, it will include perks like being able to hold meetings with people using Skype and regular phone lines.
