Sunday night's Oscars drew 39.9 million TV viewers. If you want to see the glass half full, that's a small increase of 2.6 percent over last year. If you want to see the glass as splintered shards jammed in Hollywood's jugular, that's the sixth-lowest Oscar telecast of all time, down more than 16 million viewers from the Titanic year of 1998.
