FX cancels 'Dirt"
Chalk another casualty up to the writers' strike. FX has just pulled the plug on Courteney Cox's Dirt after a season that was choppy in half by the strike. The show, in which Cox played a not terribly sympathetic Hollywood tabloid editor, was funny, inventive and at times even insightful. But its self-loathing look at celebrity, replete with everything personal and professional treachery and every sexual kink up to necrophilia and beyond, was way too far out there on the edge to bring in a truly mass audience. When viewers gave up TV altogether during the strike, Dirt's Nielsen numbers couldn't take the hit.

Boo! I liked that show!

That's too bad. I guess hollywood couldn't face the truth about itself. I enjoyed it and will miss not watching.

I'm with you - it's always the good shows that get canceled while we're left with every bit of reality crap under the sun! Maybe we could send a bunch of dirt to the powers that be - kind of like the people who sent the foam peanuts to the Jericho show! Just a thought!

I think FX made a big mistake. Dirt was a great show that had unlimited potential.
Every show on TV took a hit from the writer's strike. FX needs to just suck it up and give the viewers time to adjust. There's no reason that strife in the industry should be taken out on the public. It makes no sense to cancel an increasingly popular.

I really loved this show and so did all of my friends! It gave us busy moms something to talk about other than the house, husband and kids!
