The Big Bang Theory is likely to be deja viewing this fall if you're a fan of the old Roseanne show of the
late '80s and early '90s. Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert, who played boyfriend and girlfriend on the last five seasons of Roseanne, will be doing it again -- sort of -- on The Big Theory. Galecki is one of the show's two stars, Cal Tech nerds unexpectedly confronted with the practical application of biology when a hopelessly hot waitress moves into the apartment across the hall. Gilbert appeared in three episodes last season as a female nerd involved in a quick hookup with Galecki, But now she's joining the cast full-time. Don't be surprised if another Roseanne alum, Laurie Metcalf, shows up on Big Bang from time to time. She guested for one episode last season as Galecki's mom. On Roseanne, she played Gilbert's aunt. I'm having trouble keeping the family trees straight here, but it sure sounds to me like something uncomfortably Appalachian is at the root of all this.

I am excited to see if they decide to bring back anyone else from Roseanne. I find different shows that collaborate like this to be most hilarious. The former cast of Roseanne obviously had a lot of chemistry and worked well together and to bring those back (even just as guests) in different roles to see how they work is perfect for a comedy.
