Cinema's Exiles (9:30 p.m. Thursday, WPBT-PBS 2) -- What do The Bride of Frankenstein, Ninotchka,
Casablanca, The Wolf Man, Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, High Noon, TheBig Heat and Some Like It Hot have in common? They all were written, photographed, directed or starred in by German exiles who fled Hitler in the 1930s. A Nazi ban on Jews in the German film industry resulted in a windfall of talent for Hollywood. This documentary follows both the exile filmmakers who triumphed in America, including Peter Lorre, Billy Wilder and Fred Zinnemann, and those who flopped, like Marlene Dietrich and Ernst Lubitsch.
