When you've got a significant other who's greedy, promiscuous, power-crazed and likes to wear strappy heels and wrestle blond chicks in the swimming pool, Christmas shopping just gets tougher every year. Happily, the folks at liveauctioneers.com have come to our rescue. For a mere $3,000 or so, they've got a dress that Joan Collins wore while playing that nasty little Alexis Carrington in Dynasty a quarter of a century ago. Just the thing for Christmas, especially if you're trying to induce a heart attack in an elderly oil millionaire.
The Collins dress is one of several thousand pieces of Hollywood memorabilia that will be auctioned off Thursday, Dec. 11 on the liveauctioneers site. The TV stuff includes a top hat worn by Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy, and the sinister space-helmety thing worn by the villain Mr. Freeze as he faced off against Adam West in Batman 40 years ago, both expected to go in the $10,000 range.
But if you're feeling really flush, blow off TV and go for something from the movies: Jimi Hendrix's guitar strap from Woodstock ($25,000-$35,000), James Dean's vest from Giant ($30,000-$40,000), Harrison Ford's fedora from Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom ($40,000-$60,000), or a C3PO droid helmet from Return of the Jedi. The more lethally minded can get one of Ford's machetes from Temple of Doom ($80,000 to $100,000) or Luke Skywalker's light saber from the original Star Wars ($150,000 to $180,000). And the merely creepy can scoop up a letter from Son of Sam, a sanguinary steal at $600.

So, Glenn, are you looking for anything touched by Dana Delaney or are they just not offering anything?
