WFTL adds A-Rod and Derek Jeter to its lineup

YankeesWho cares about the Marlins or that fancy new stadium Miami's astonishingly generous taxpayers are about to build them? Not WFTL, which knows that South Florida's heart always and forever belongs to the New York Yankees. The Fort Lauderdale station, which aired Yankee games last season on the weekends, this year is picking up the entire regular-season schedule plus two spring-training games. The games will air on AM 640 (formerly WMEN), one of the three stations now operating under the WFTL brand name.

The decision to air Yankee games is part of a row of tumbling dominoes set off by Clear Channel's decision to switch Miami station WINZ (940 AM) from a liberal talk-radio format to sports. Sometime around March 1, WINZ will start airing programming from Fox Sports, and its shows will disappear from WFTL.
