CBS, ever-vigilant against an original creeping onto the network, has signed a new two-year deal with the creator of all three of its CSI shows. The deal means that the network's production arm, CBS TV Studios, gets a first looked at anything developed by Anthony Zuiker, including CSI: Keokuk, CSI: Belle Glades and the highly anticipated CSI: Vacant Lot On Calle 8.

Sort of a late April Fool's joke, right? Of course, Zuiker had been driving a tram between hotels owned by Steve Wynn in Las Vegas for $8/hour when he created "CSI" after hanging around Las Vegas and Los Angeles morgues and became fascinated with forensic science. (That's even more unbelievable, but true.)
