Hit the road, Jack! Fox axes '24'

24 Agent Jack Bauer's nine years of continual crisis are about to end. Fox has pulled the plug on 24, the victim of rising costs, declining ratings and bored writers. Executive Producer Howard Gordon promises "a pretty dark and complex" series finale in May. Not dark in the sense of Jack being wheeled out in a coffin, though -- a 24 movie is in the works.
