Thanks to Mary O'Connor-Shaver of Columbus, Ohio, for bringing this appalling phenomenon to my attention so I can bring it to yours.
Every year since 2003, puppy-mill operators have been gathering at the Buckeye Dog Auction to bid on hundreds of dogs and puppies destined to live in miserable conditions and be bred like livestock. They get no affection or attention, and are forced to crank out a litter every time they go into heat.
Mary and others are trying to get the auction banned, which couldn't happen soon enough, far as I'm concerned.
