On the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Petfinder.com pays a tribute to Katrina victims with a reminder for pet owners to keep their animals safe by preparing for the event of a natural disaster.
By launching the Emergency Response Network, the largest online database of adoptable pets, Petfinder.com, was responsible for uniting more than 2,000 animals and their owners during the Katrina crisis. Co-founder Betsy Saul can speak with you in-depth about this experience, as well as provide you with details about the Petfinder.com Disaster Preparedness Kit.
Located at http://www.petfinder.com/disaster/index.html, the Disaster Preparedness Kit was created to arm people all over the country with the resources and information they need to protect themselves and their pets. It includes a tip sheet highlighting simple preventive measures to implement at home, a check list with critical items to have on-hand, as well as suggestions of how to put together a plan that is appropriate for each pet owner’s lifestyle.
