From the brave Police K-9 to your lovable couch potato pooch, dogs have always played a special role in our lives.
To celebrate this special bond, Broward County Animal Care and Regulation will pay tribute to shelter canines during the week of August 23 by giving special "doggie bags" to all residents who adopt a shelter dog.
"National Dog Day is next Wednesday," said Cheryl Cayer, interim director of Broward County Animal Care and Regulation. "To celebrate, we will provide each person who adopts a dog a special gift bag to take home with their new four-legged friend."
The gift bag will include a leather leash and collar, a discount coupon to Pet Supermarket and a sample bag of dog food and other fun items.
The celebration will begin Monday, August 24 and run through Saturday, August 28, at both Broward County locations. Cost to adopt a dog is $74.95 and includes a health exam, spaying or neutering (sterilization), de-worming and heartworm test, rabies vaccination and a County pet license.
Broward County Animal Care and Regulation is located at 1870 S.W. 39th St., Fort Lauderdale. Hours for adoption are Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Adoptions are also offered at the Pompano Beach location, 3100 N.W. 19th Terrace. The shelter is open for adoptions Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. |
