Pet lady: That's my role in the Miami Herald newsroom. I've been here since 1989, during which time I've had 11 dogs, a ring-necked parakeet, a chicken, and a lizard named Lance. At the moment, I have four dogs, one step-dog, and two cockatiels. A native New Yorker, I came here from Louisville, Ky. I'm a graduate of the University of Arizona, and had a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard in 1988. I have written 309 stories containing the word "dog" in the past 20 years.

Dog-a-Pool-ooza!

City of Miami Parks will host Dog-A-Pool-ooza on November 6, from 11am – 3pm at Grapeland Water Park, 1550 NW 37 Avenue for all the water-loving dogs out there. Friendly, non-aggressive canines are invited to come out and enjoy jumping, splashing, running around the two shallow pools. Tennis balls will be on site for those who like a little sport with their water. Admission is $5 per dog. For more information call (305) 960-2950.

lol thats fun! Wow, I wish we had those kind of events here in Las Vegas. My pup would go crazy lol.
