Spankin' sergeant slapped with sex charges

Maroney Sgt. Tom Maroney (left) of the Ocoee Police Department in Central Florida has been charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment after he drunkenly beat a woman at an off-duty party.

The woman claimed Maroney, 35, pulled down her pants and spanked her about a dozen times, and then he removed his belt and whipped her with that another half-dozen times, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

"Nothing was consensual," the woman's attorney told the newspaper. "He brutalized her. He violated the public trust."

The incident at Monday's party happened after Maroney performed some card tricks and then told his alleged victim she owed him because he won their bets. In 2004, a Ocoee police intern complained to supervisors that Maroney bet her on a card trick and then tried to collect by spanking her. He was given a written warning at the time.

In light of the fact the incident occurred off-duty, I don't see how this could be considered "violating the public trust." Violating common sense, certainly, but this had nothing to do with his employment.

Other than that, he's a moron...and apparently a serial moron.

He needs to be hung.... by his b---s, and then spanked in rear... with a red hot poker.

You don't see how it applies to his job? It has everything to do with his job, which is all about applying appropriate discretion and judgment. It is called "conduct unbecoming an officer," and he should be removed from the force ASAP.

RICK TRUTH SPEAKER

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE DEPARTMENT FAILS TO DO WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I PERSONALLY THINK THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN A CROOKED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IS A CHILD MOLESTER. IF WHAT HE DID IS INDEED TRUE. HE SHOULD BE FIRED AND CHARGED. I WON'T BE JUDGE, JURY AND PROSECUTOR BECAUSE MANY TIMES THE TRUTH CAN BE DISTORTED BY EMOTIONAL RAMIFICATIONS.THIS MAN'S CARRER IS ON THE LINE. I PRAY THAT A THOUROUGH INVESTIGATION WILL BRING FORTH THE TRUTH AND IF HE IS FOUND GUILTY, THEN HE MUST FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTION.
