Why is this bear smiling?

This Indian man, Ram Singh Munda, was arrested when wildlife officials found out about Rani, his pet sloth bear. Munda found Rani as an orphaned cub and cared for him ever since.

But the po-po ripped the two apart and banished Rani to a zoo. The bear is now refusing to eat.
