A study recently published in the New England Journal of Science suggests doctors should administer heroin to keep long term addicts away from crime.
"You're taking a potentially unsafe, toxic thing -- the package from the dealer down the street -- and you're putting it in a clinic setting,"said addiction medicine specialist, Dr. Joshua D. Lee, a professor of medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City said. "It could kill the street drug trade and cause positive effects in the neighborhood."
A headline that reads -- Doctor distributes heroin -- sounds just crazy.

A University of Massachusetts Dartmouth study revealed that a hundred percent of the bills collected from Miami tested positive for cocaine. And $5, $10, $20 and $50 bills were more likely to be positive for cocaine than $1 bills.
Researcher Yuegang Zuo, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, said that the high percentage of contaminated U.S. currency observed in the current study represents nearly a 20 percent jump in comparison to a similar study he conducted two years ago.
"I'm not sure why we've seen this apparent increase, but it could be related to the economic downturn, with stressed people turning to cocaine," said Zuo, who once worked at Florida International University.
Here is the story.
