Reward increases for missing North Miami woman

Family of a missing North Miami woman has increased the reward to $6,000 for information.

Gonzalez"Our family is in crisis and we are asking for the public to help us find Noemi," said Liz Gonzalez, sister-in-law of Noemi Gonzalez. "We've all seen the stories in the news of missing loved ones but never think it'll happen to your family.  When it does, you understand the agony of not knowing where or what has happened to your loved one.  It's a heart wrenching and surreal experience we would not wish on any family.

Here is the original Feb. 15 post on the missing woman:

Noemi Gonzalez, a 54-year-old North Miami woman who suffers from epilepsy, disappeared from her family home sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and family members are asking for the community's help in finding her.

North Miami police also joined the hunt Friday.

Gonzalez was last seen by her son Pedrito at 10 p.m. Tuesday, when she went to sleep. When Pedrito woke up the next morning, he found his mother's bed unkempt, her pocketbook and cellphone still in the home, and the front door unlocked.

Family members, who say Gonzalez would never leave her home without notifying someone, also say it's rare she would leave personal items scattered about instead of taking them with her.

Gonzalez's sister-in-law, Liz Gonzalez, said police were at the home in the 400 block of Northeast 136th Street on Friday with dogs trained to pick up scents. She said when her sister-in-law suffers an epileptic seizure she sometimes passes out, unable to wander. Neighbors reportedly saw her wandering Memorial Highway, her sister-in-law said.

"Naturally, our family is devastated at just the thought that something terrible has happened to her," said Liz Gonzalez.
