A burglary suspect was reportedly shot Monday morning by a Miami-Dade officer after a confrontation.

The shooting happened around 4 a.m. at 1520 NE 137th St. in North Miami.

The wounded suspect was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition, Miami-Dade police spokesman Elena Hernandez said.

Police responded to a burglary in progress, she said, when the suspect ran after climbing on top of a roof in the neighborhood. An altercation with officers on the roof followed and the suspect was shot in the upper body.
