Friday morning may be a little chilly, but the cool air won’t last long.
South Florida temperatures are in the 50s early Friday as the tail end of the cold front that slammed the South with ice and snow pushes through. The afternoon will warm up to the 70s.
“It the same system that wreaked havoc in the Southeast,” said David Ross, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami-Dade. “We had a much milder impact.”
But the good news is the sun will shine for Valentine's Day and the big weekend events including the Miami International Boat show and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival.
“The cold weather will be short-lived,” he said.
While Friday night could dip into the 60s, Saturday and Sunday will warm up to the 70s and 80s.
And the best gift: No rain.
“The main concern for the weather this weekend is for people to stay hydrated,” Ross said.
