Man pleads guilty to stealing 310 sea turtle eggs

From the Palm Beach Post:

TurtleKenneth Cornelius Coleman was adamant about his ignorance when police confronted him in July 2013 about stealing 310 eggs from eight green and loggerhead sea turtle nests along the beach.

“I don’t know nothing about no turtle eggs,” the 51-year-old Riviera Beach man told police without any prompting, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, however, he confessed to a judge that he knew plenty. He pleaded guilty for the second time of stealing the eggs of threatened and endangered species of turtles.

Coleman faces up to five years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and up to three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court to one count of unlawfully transporting the eggs. He had been arrested on the same charge in 2010 and 2005, and was sentenced to prison in February 2011.

Give this jerk a year for each turtle egg. That will put him away for awhile.
