Heavy storms moving into Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade is under a thunderstorm advisory until 3:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Bad weather will affect Homestead, the Redland, Perrine, Richmond Heights, Cutler Bay, Country Walk and surrounding areas.

Hail, lightning strikes and gusty winds are possible.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for southeastern Broward County until 1:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Lightning affected a runway at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport, according to CBS4 meteorologist Michael Smith.

A 51 mph wind gust was recorded at Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, the weather service reported.

The storms then headed south into the Miami area, according to the weather service.
