1 killed in crash of small plane




One person is dead in the crash of a small plane south of Elliott Key, according to Miami-Dade police.

"Homicide investigators are responding and will be taken to the crash site," said police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.

The Cessna 172 crashed into the water near Elliott Key at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The circumstances of the accident are unknown.
