I spend part of my work life chasing rumors and today is no different.
So far today I have chased two rumors that continue to persist and I am ready to report to you the first is true, the second is not.
It is true the Dallas Cowboys are mildly, and I do stress mildly, interested in quarterback John Beck. The Cowboys have winked, hand-signaled, called or e-mailed the Dolphins (however it is they do it) that they would be willing to part with a low-round draft pick for the second-year player.
Obviously, Beck remains on the Dolphins so nothing has actually materialized on that front.
Stay tuned, however, as Beck and Josh McCown continue to get minimal work in practice.
Onto another rumor ...
There have been persistent rumors the Dolphins are planning a uniform change this year. That is simply NOT true. The stuff about them going to silver pants and aqua helmets is just bunk.
The only change to Miami's uniform pattern of any significance is that the aqua pants will be added back to go with the white jerseys during road games. You saw that change in the opening road game of the preseason against Jacksonville.
So no uniform change. As I joked with a Dolphins official, that rumor is stomped like a bug.

I am all about tradition but and I can't believe I am writing this, time for the change of uniforms. The present uniforms are a little ummmm, faggy. Here is how Big Bad JT sees it.
Navy jersey with silver numbers trimmed with white & orange for home.
White jersey navy blue numbers trimmed with silver & orange for away.
Silver pants blue /orange side stripe
Navy blue helmet with the Dolphin Stadium logo on the side
It worked for;
Tampa
New England
Bills
Jets
Seahawks
Broncos
Texans
Etc
Now,I have to go and nail my wife to brush off this fashion talk session

Do we have the balls to trade Beck to the Pats for a 3rd rounder?

When I'm finished plowing my wife, I'm headed to Mango's to pick up some dudes because I REALLY LOVE MEN!

Ok tinshaker, not sure why you want to get personal, but the scout team and the practice squad are NOT the same thing.
The practice squad are guys apart from the 53 man roster who're in developement with the team. The scout team is made up of practice squad guys AND guys on the roster (usually bottom half guys). The scout team studies and runs plays during practice that the team expects to see in the next game. Usually it's run by the 3rd string QB on offense. That was my understanding, it could be wrong, but regardless on any of that, I never said PUT him on the scout team, I said have him run it.
I didn't identify myself because I was just posting an opinion. I didn't expect a personal attack over it, but if you need someone to take out your angst on, you can call me Sol.
Cappy: Beck would be the 3rd QB on the roster if McCown was cut like I was talking about.

If someone offered a 3rd rounder for Beck right now the Tuna would soil himself with joy and pull the trigger immediately.

"ericmiami,"
Your repeated anti-Mormon comments are way out of line. As a college upperclassman, Beck averaged 350 yards passing/game against 6 BCS conference opponents. Not exactly "obscure conference" competition.

respect the Code........And change the unifroms & dump the song. I hate the aqua & orange when I go on the road 'cause I look like a big sissy. Let's go more macho---black & teal, perhaps.

ericmiami, have you ever met a Mormon, or had a Mormon neighbor, or are you the typical bigoted loser who speaks out of their butt and has no idea why he's a loser bigot?
Or do you just repeat all the bigoted comments you hear from Neil Rogers, your idol/boyfriend?

Isaac- a true man isn't intimidated by colors. He has pride in who he is and what he believes in. Now take your sissy ass back to Oakland or wherever you have to go to feel like a man.

Don't change the uniforms. The only look I don't like is the all white combo. I say go with what we had had so far this preseason. It looked good, the all white looks like a nurses uniform to me. The fins should wear the aqua shirts at home, throw in the orange ones once in a while...

Beck to the Cowboys for their throw back uni's.
Change the logo to an angry TUNA.
And Joey Porter is the next over paid loud mouth vet. to get the AX.

OH! And MIDOL for all the bee-atches on this blog....

You guys who keep screaming for us to wear orange jerseys must have no memories. That is the color of the original Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then again, after we go 2-14 this year, maybe we SHOULD change the uniforms to orange and white. Then we could change the team name to the Miami Butt-Pirates.
Personally, if I ever have to wear an old Tampa uniform, I'm outta here. I'll go back to the Jets before I wear that sissy outfit.

And here are some teams that haven't changed their uniforms in a long, long time:
Dallas
Pittsburgh
San Francisco
Oakland
Indianapolis (changed cities, not the uni)
Cleveland
Green Bay
Chicago
Kansas City
Do you think they would be any better if they did?

Too bad. Seems like teams that change their uniform often do better. Like the SB winning Bucs, and Patriots, to name two.

Answer me this, how do you know that 'Beck and Josh McCown continue to get minimal work in practice.' when practices are closed to the public and media?
Posted by: insider? bah. | August 18, 2008 at 11:14 PM
Beck to Dallas for a low round pick is a waste. CUT MCCOWAN!
Now, as for the uniforms. Being a uniform buff I noticed the return of the aqua pants within seconds. And I'm not happy. I've hated the aqua pants...always have, always will. It makes us look cheezy and wimpy.
And please, please, please don't tell me that Parcells is going to downgrade our uniforms like he did the Pats. The Pats, even though they were losers while wearing them, had amazing uniforms with the "snapping Patriot center" as their helmet sticker. Damn, those were nice helmets and uni's. And they swapped them for those ugly yellow helmets and funky jerseys?
I've learned to accept that Parcells is in charge (after detesting him for so many years). I could not abide with anyone messing further with our uniforms. If anything, we should go simpler...and back to the mid-70's classic look. But Reebok won't let that happen...the seem intent on ruining uniforms in all the sports they touch.

Oooops...I said ugly yellow helmets...how did I do that? I meant SILVER.
The Patriots have ugly SILVER helmets.
Posted by: Josephus | August 18, 2008 at 11:23 PM
What are we talking about exactly when we say low round pick? Personally I think they should just cut Mccown but if we can get a 3rd rd pick for Beck I'd take that instead.
Posted by: biff | August 18, 2008 at 11:48 PM
No uniform changes. We'll look awesome as long as we're winning.
Posted by: Dude | August 19, 2008 at 12:22 AM
I wish they went to silver/aqua. That could be totally badass. They need a new modern image. I was thinking silver helmets with aqua facemasks... with the dolphin stadium logo or something with just a dolphin and nothing extra. That stadium logo would look cool coming across their shoulder pads like the way the patriots' 96 uni's were.

Teams always do better after uniform changes. It worked wonders for the Broncos, Patriots, and the Bucs. Change them asap.
As for Beck. Trade him! I am a fan of Beck and think he will turn into a good QB in the NFL; however, there is no reason for the Dolphins to carry four QBs. Henne has looked good, and is the man of the future. The Tuna drafted him, and he is the Tuna's man. You stick with the formula for developing a good NFL QB. You have a guy that can run the team now and produce in Pennington. You have the veteran backup that can come in if the #1 guy goes down. McCown, fits that seeing he is too old to compete for the top spot. You just use him as an emergency line to help prepare Henne. Then you have the QB of the future in Henne. Keeping Beck makes no sense for the Dolphins. They should move him as soon as they get an offer for him.

So, as you all can see the majority DON'T want any logo or uniform changes.
Sorry but No silver or Navy blue here...
Also, the lame excuse that "just because other teams have changes" their image makes no sense. Most of them were crappy for a long time and many still are.
Dark colors also make no sense forthe players. Get over it already and thanks for playing. Go #85

The all white uniforms for home day games are good looking and functional. I hate the orange shirts. Lets keep the uniforms as is

NO UNIFORM CHANGES!
Posted by: cocoajoe | August 19, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Mando - Can you find out about a uniform change that is needed. Look at the Browns unis last night...EPIC! Love the solid pants! Let's simplify that fins uniform and take it out of the JJ 90's mold! GET RID OF THE DARK BLUE...NOT A FINS COLOR! go solid all one color for pants and match the shirt to go with (all white or all aqua).
