I'm at Dolphin Stadium, home of a team about to improve from last year's 1-15 record.
Just looking around and I am told that Jay Feely, who has been nursing a groin injury, will not kick tonight. Rookie Dan Carpenter will handle all the kicking duties.
The Miami Herald has reported that Josh McCown is not playing tonight while John Beck starts. Chad Henne is expected to play the second and fourth quarter in the report filed by beat writer Jeff Darlington.
Other lineup issues: Derek Hagan will start ahead of Ernest Wilford.
Donald Thomas will be the second Dolphins rookie offensive lineman to start. Rookie Kendall Langford will start at left defensive end for Matt Roth.
Matt Roth will start at strong side linebacker for Joey Porter. Phillip Merling will start at right defensive end for Vonnie Holliday.
Chad Pennington is at the stadium and has signed his contract. He is expected to be introduced, perhaps after the game.
Anyway check back often for updates. Understand that I am blogging and writing a column at the same time -- on deadline -- so I don't want to hear no $%#@&* if I'm not super fast with the updates. But I will do my best.
Meet me in the comments section at kickoff.

Another sack. Big play # 2 on the D side of the ball. Simms follows that up with a first down completion.

End of 3rd qtr. 7-6 Bucs. Who will be QB for Phins in 4th Qtr? We need to get in the red zone. Why are we saving up sex for our old age? Let's enjoy it now!! At least my beer is interesting tonite.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:41 PM
4th qtr, another 1st down throw by Simms. The D is awfully soft.
Time of possession is becoming a big advantage for TB.
Another completion for TB. It's looking easy for them.
No gain on the run. 3rd and 4.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:43 PM

were is jerry jones when you need him
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:49 PM
Passing D is really looking bad. 27/39 for 189; almost 70% of completions.
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 09:49 PM
14-6 TB. We are losing the time of possesion battle...what else is new? That is a sign of a bad team. Can't move the chains. Cant stop the other team's from moving the chains. Plus...no big plays. It's not looking good. Sparano is not passing his first exam with flying colors.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:49 PM
where?
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:50 PM

Yea I know it's preseason, but it's also preseason for TB. Hello!!!!
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:50 PM
McCown in. Henne finishes 5 of 10 for 67 yards. No TDs, no INTs.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 09, 2008 at 09:50 PM
Hey Cam Cameron why all the hate on against the mormons? Did a missionary "covert" your momma?

Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:52 PM

Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:52 PM
JT not playing for skins tonight. if he was still a phin I sure we would only be down by 4 dammit!!
Posted by: drew | August 09, 2008 at 09:52 PM
Davone Bess makes a catch.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:53 PM
Tampa played 3 qb with NFL experience, and their Starting Running Back til the 4th quarter!! Major Difference its the game 1 in the preseason!
Posted by: ye of much phin phaith | August 09, 2008 at 09:53 PM
Our McCown is in?
Posted by: Alex S. | August 09, 2008 at 09:54 PM
McCown has made a few completions.
Hits Bess again near the 1st down marker. Just short actually.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
Anyone that comments on this game as if it is important is out of their mind. This is the first preseason game people. Not only that but believe it or not the Dolphins are rebuilding. We will be lucky to win 6 games this year so calm down and embrace mediocrity. We are at least a few years out here.
Posted by: NYScott | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
jim kick look alike
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
McCown is winning back his starting job; 100% completion percentage!!!
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
1st down run by Hilliard....negated by holding penalty on Murphy.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
The penalties are troubling
Posted by: ye of much phin phaith | August 09, 2008 at 09:55 PM
where are the bags?
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:56 PM
Incomplete pass. Just lost again his starting gig.
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 09:56 PM
Dolphins punt! Still no QB has put us in teh end zone. Good return by TB. Here we go again. Poor coverage by Phins. We are not looking like a good cohesive football team.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 09:57 PM
oh well give tuna a couple yrs he will get some real animals on d
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:58 PM
Are ginn or hagan still in the game?
Posted by: drew | August 09, 2008 at 09:58 PM
Kevin you are right that it is preseason for both teams. The problem is that one of the teams won their division and the other only won 1 game.
Posted by: NYScott | August 09, 2008 at 09:58 PM
TB has completed passes to 13 receivers! Man, I didn't even know you could have that many guys in a team.
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 09:59 PM
HOw are the fins looking I am just having to read all ya lls post
Posted by: wonderinfan | August 09, 2008 at 09:59 PM
the worse team ever in pro football, well not including that first tampa team.
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 09:59 PM
Yea....maybe the bags will be coming out early this year. This team looks awful No big plays. The D looks soft. We cant even get a 1st down and we cant stop them on 3rd down. All bad signs. What's up Tony Sparano?
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:00 PM
How is Solai doing? Are they running down his throat or is he stuffing the middle?
Posted by: james | August 09, 2008 at 10:00 PM
Give em hell in the press Armando. They deserve it.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:01 PM
wait for the first cuts, we get replacements.
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM
I'm loving this blog nice work all. I'm from California and there is little to no coverage of the Dolphins on the west coast...Keep me posted lopezdolfan
Posted by: JR | August 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM
How many of Henne's incompletes were drops? Anybody know?
Posted by: lafinsfan | August 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Why are they bragging on Henne? We are losing and he has not put us in the red zone or the end zone. Please give me a break. No big plays from the offense. My god!
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM
0-16 this year looks like bill parcells has failed us all... maybe they can all work together in baltimore
Posted by: wonderinfan | August 09, 2008 at 10:03 PM
TB hits the FG....17-6 with 2:57 left.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Well, remember last year first two preseason games? Our 1st team D didn't allow any first downs in either game (or something close). Didn't exactly followed the trend in the regular season. Maybe this year it won't follow the trend either.
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 10:04 PM
at least my beer is interesting, and getting more interesting by the swallow!
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I Think you should get a job at the Herald Kevin P, you seem pretty good at bashing the dolphins way too early.
Posted by: ye of much phin phaith | August 09, 2008 at 10:05 PM
bring back Marino and duper.
Posted by: mi@mic@9 | August 09, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I wish Ginn was returning kicks. This is stupid. He's not a good enough reciever to not be returning kicks. He's a great return man....but has a lot to prove as a reciever. We are a better team with him returning kicks and punts. That's one of the big reasons we drafted him....to shorten the field.
Posted by: Kevin P. | August 09, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Bring Back George Wilson!
Posted by: MaCo | August 09, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Well that didn't take long. All the retardisms are starting to come out from all the experts. GG! ....as I laugh to myself.
Posted by: /Palmface | August 09, 2008 at 10:07 PM
I wonder if the McCown brothers are going to go chainsawing after the game?
Posted by: ye of much phin phaith | August 09, 2008 at 10:08 PM
We need 2 units of blood STAT!!! The offense is anemic!!!
