GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Got here extremely early for today's game between the Dolphins and Cardinals and ran into a former league source now working for the Cardinals. Asked him the real chances of his team trading receiver Anquan Boldin this year.
"Zero," he said. "Absolutely zero. I don't know what will happen after the season but I just don't see Anquan going anywhere this year."
So much for the rumors of Boldin coming to the Dolphins. While I wish that could happen for Miami's sake it just isn't in the, pardon the pun, cards. I know Boldin is from Florida. I know his agent Drew Rosenhaus would like to make it happen and continues to press Arizona to trade Boldin.
But the Cards hold all the, pardon the pun again, cards.
They have rebuffed at least one team's inquiry about Boldin and they have refused to give Rosenhaus permission to shop his client.
Understand that doesn't mean Boldin might not be moved in the offseason or some time before his current contract expires in 2010. But he is just as likely to get a new deal in Arizona before then as get traded.
So much for that rumor.
I can report to you that Ernest Wilford will be active today. The Dolphins are making Brandon London inactive to make room for Wilford on the active roster. Ricky Williams is still scheduled to start. Greg Camarillo will start at wide receiver.
Anyway, I hope you guys are ready for today's live blog. It'll start at kickoff. Join me then.

Pete I hate to say this to you but if you think because the Phins haven't changed everything around in two games you have no idea how this game is played or managed. I never said we were getting great efforts. I said we are rebuilding and need to be patient. That patience needs to be extended past two games. Marino said it was going to take at least three years, Sparano said it was going to be a while, Ireland said it won't happen over night, and Parcells is known for turning franchises around in 3 to 4 years. And you guys want everyone fired? Please explain to me how that makes ANY sense at all. PLEASE!

1st and 2nd down doesn't matter.the cards are 12-13 on 3rd down

You guys need to chill out, its WEEK 2!! i'm not sure why you thought we were going to world beaters after the type of season we had last year... and its not like they have been discreet about our acquisitions, you should be able to tell by the amount of talent on our roster that we arent going to do much better than last year... its going to take at least 2 more years to even be respectable... come guys get with the program
Posted by: The_Fan | September 14, 2008 at 05:56 PM
Face mask was on Kendall Langford.

Marc, you win. You are obviously much tougher than me at calling people names behind the soft glow of your computer monitor.
Posted by: Account Deleted | September 14, 2008 at 05:58 PM
I thought this team would play smarter under the current regime. Boy was I wrong! If I didn't know better, I'd think Cam Cameron was still on the sideline.

24-0

"The cardinals are dominating" WOW...
Posted by: Marc | September 14, 2008 at 05:58 PM
dont expect everything to be turned around but there is no excuse for this effort today and the lack of passion from the coaching staff and players is disgusting.

Posted by: Larry A. | September 14, 2008 at 05:59 PM
wow i am so disappointed i dont even know how to describe a series like that i thought for a second we had a glimmer of hope then we just gave it away

When I woke up today, I was reading some articles. Then I said to myself, "Atleast I'm not a raiders fan". Then I watched McFadden run like crazy and the raiders look decent. Now Im watching my team do this???? I love the Dolphins but we are farther away than I thought. Everyone else notice that when other teams run, they have some space to breathe. But when the dolphins run the ball they never have an inch?

HAVE WE ALL LEARNED OUR LESSONS IN THE OFFSEASON???????
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 06:00 PM
Don't be ridiculous The_Fan. This is very obvious; the play calling is pathetic, as well as the player personnel decisions. This does not look like an NFL team! Don't be foolish enough to use time as an excuse. You have to start making the right personnel decisions, and that starts today, not next game, not next season!
Posted by: Fred | September 14, 2008 at 06:01 PM
CNEIGHBOR,,,,,,LOL!

Is there anyway we can start this game over?
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 06:02 PM
this is a complete embarrassment. the defensive backs are atrocious, and crocker is a complete a**clown back there. he's constantly turning in circles and the last thing you see is his name as he's half-heartedly chasing down a wr. can we keep henne, long, and maybe brown, and cut the rest of the team. the defense looks like they are just going through the motions out there. it looks like we are a junior varsity team out there.
Posted by: bertball50 | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
camarillo is our best player, ouch!!!
Posted by: donjpaper | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
I thought Ginn was there to Return Punts and Kick OFFS...
How about Parmalee returning he's fast and could get us more yards and add some excitment to our team....
NYSCOTT outside the Giants and their Superbowl wins what Franchises has Parcels turned in to winner and Superbowl winners. Sorry I forget...
Posted by: James/Ireland | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
we may end up with negative yards today.
Posted by: donjpaper | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
It's like a watching a car crash in slow motion
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
I saw Henne warming up.
Posted by: Master | September 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
Sparano should cut everyone on his staff and start over with homeless people.
328-92 yards.........even prairie view college laughs at the Dolphins!

Comeback anyone? Anyone?
Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 14, 2008 at 06:04 PM
What was the point of upgrading (using that term loosely) at quarterback when he has no real receivers to throw to?
Posted by: Lee UK | September 14, 2008 at 06:04 PM
Pete I know it's dissapointing, we're all dissapointed. It's been a long time since we have seen a winner. With that said we have to stay the course and understand that Sparano is going to need a while before the culture is changed here. Everyone is name calling and pointing fingers and some are even calling for firings already and that is absolutely ridiculous. Good thing Dallas didn't fire JJ after his 1-15 season. The funny thing is the fans in Dallas understood that they were going to need a couple of drafts to turn it around and they were patient.

Screw Hawains, I still say we go for SUMO wrestlers!
Posted by: Marc | September 14, 2008 at 06:04 PM
Well fred if you thought this team was going to be anything other than a 2 win team you and about 90% of dolphins fan are sadly naive...
go back and look at the cowboys when parcells first started there, it is very similar to us right now so be patient, our team will be good... just not for another 2 or 3 years; accept or deny it, it wont stop it from happening.
Posted by: The_Fan | September 14, 2008 at 06:05 PM
When's Ginn gonna get his 2 yard reception for the day?
Posted by: Joel | September 14, 2008 at 06:05 PM
All I can say is.....OY!!
Posted by: finsbigfan | September 14, 2008 at 06:05 PM
armando,
I didn't expect them to win today but I thought they would play better. Any explanations for the regression besides being on the road?
Posted by: teezeepan | September 14, 2008 at 06:06 PM

Posted by: donjpaper | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
derek should keep that ball. isnt that hi sfirst nfl catch. lol
Posted by: Pete in otown | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
Miami. Where legends come to have their legacies ruined. Jimmy Johnson. Bill Parsmells. Etc. Maybe we can get Bill Belichick to come here and coach this team to an 0-16 record.
The one constant is The Not-So-Great Pumpkin we have as an owner. And he's the one person we can't get rid of.
Just disband the damn franchise. I'd rather not have a team at all than have this every year for the last God knows how many years and God knows how many years into the future. Beyond horrible.
Posted by: Oh yes, we suck again, and will continue to suck. | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
The most disappointing thing I see is not the dumb penalties or the blown coverages, it's the deer in the headlights look of Sparano. If that's not the Wanny look of "I think I'm in over my head" it's pretty close.
Posted by: SSDD | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
hagan...catch #1...congrats...20 to go. over/under anyone?
Posted by: cneighbor | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
I have an idea! Let's fire the entire staff, again, and rebuild again next year!!! Let's bench pennington in favor of Henne so he can be ruined like Beck! Yea! Let's run the less then 100% Brown into the ground so his knee will completely tweak and his career will be over! Yea! Let's make fun of our coach for decisions we think are so smart because we know the players and how to manage a game better then anyone (because we are NFL personal after all)! Yea! 1 good offseason and draft makes up for 7 years of bad offseasons! Yea! We have the talent to win a superbowl today if not for Parcells! Yea! Dolphin fans deserve being ranked near the bottom of fans in the NFL according to ESPN. Most defintely.

That's why Ronnie should be starting and getting the bulk of the carries!!
Posted by: Joel | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
lack of preparation
Posted by: donjpaper | September 14, 2008 at 06:07 PM
