GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Got here extremely early for today's game between the Dolphins and Cardinals and ran into a former league source now working for the Cardinals. Asked him the real chances of his team trading receiver Anquan Boldin this year.
"Zero," he said. "Absolutely zero. I don't know what will happen after the season but I just don't see Anquan going anywhere this year."
So much for the rumors of Boldin coming to the Dolphins. While I wish that could happen for Miami's sake it just isn't in the, pardon the pun, cards. I know Boldin is from Florida. I know his agent Drew Rosenhaus would like to make it happen and continues to press Arizona to trade Boldin.
But the Cards hold all the, pardon the pun again, cards.
They have rebuffed at least one team's inquiry about Boldin and they have refused to give Rosenhaus permission to shop his client.
Understand that doesn't mean Boldin might not be moved in the offseason or some time before his current contract expires in 2010. But he is just as likely to get a new deal in Arizona before then as get traded.
So much for that rumor.
I can report to you that Ernest Wilford will be active today. The Dolphins are making Brandon London inactive to make room for Wilford on the active roster. Ricky Williams is still scheduled to start. Greg Camarillo will start at wide receiver.
Anyway, I hope you guys are ready for today's live blog. It'll start at kickoff. Join me then.

is arizona's defense that good or is the fins offense that bad????? Henning has a dazed and confused look in the press box

has there ever been a worse 1-2 combo in draft picks like ginn-beck? Maybe Bosa-Graff of 1987?
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 05:19 PM
third and 7 from the 8 yard line and you give up a draw for a first down?
Awful.

Crowder is complete garbage.......absolute garbage. He expects any team to sign him to a longterm deal playing like this. All I see is Crowder getting blocked. Blocked by everyone and anyone.
Posted by: Beck's Agent | September 14, 2008 at 05:20 PM
nothing has changed...maybe cam wasn't so bad alleast we were in some games last year.
Posted by: donjpaper | September 14, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Armando,
You were talking about ricky not having explosion....i have noticed it to. He seems like he is a little slow. Did he mabe get to much work in preseason?
Posted by: The Question | September 14, 2008 at 05:21 PM
very large steps backwards from last week, not a good sign.
Posted by: Pete in otown | September 14, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Anyone wanna predict final score? I say 56-3
Posted by: Joet | September 14, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Unbelievable how bad this team sucks.......Looked better last week against a better team

We going to the locker room with 45 yards of passing.

"'I'm the no 1 receiver" hagan...season catches over/under=21...your thoughts?'"
I was hoping for a good 50 catch, 15 TD season. But that seems a little unlikely now, no?
For real, Sparano, even if you don't value these guys -- because you didn't draft them -- at least give 'em a shot. Ginn was a first round pick. Hagan was a 3rd if I'm not mistaken. Wilford was your $6 million BUY.
Here's the insane logic: If you spend big money, then play the damn fella.
At least SEE what they have to offer through the first 6 games. With Wilford, bananas, you need to start him all 16 to earn the bang for your buck.
Maybe they all suck in practice. But maybe, just maybe, they're gamers, too.
I mean, obviously, today they suck. But I can't really objectively argue since I'm following the game via msn tracker.
DAMN YOU CBS. Screw this New England game.

"And with the 1st pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select "_insert name of favorite college player here"
Posted by: sc_fan | September 14, 2008 at 05:22 PM
Hey Mo,
Consider yourself lucky you're not watching the game. The dolphins defense looks like they have a hangover out there!
Posted by: Fred | September 14, 2008 at 05:23 PM
24-0 at the half?
Posted by: Earl | September 14, 2008 at 05:23 PM

I just have to learn not to hope for to much. Looks like I will end up losing another dinner bet, after this season because I do not think they will make 8/8....hell I should have just settle for 2/14.....dam that three years in a row..sure would love to have someone pay for my Apples bees, for a change.

I hate it when peple here say we should be patient, not whine. Hello! This is a professional football team we spend time and money cheering for. NFL teams have turned it around in one year countless times int he free agency era. Yes we as fans have every right to complain. These are professionals, many of whom are millionares (including coaches). This oroginzation has got to get its head out of the crack of its buttocks. Since I've been here all I've seen is a team that shoots for a B grade accross the board, Yet it always ends up with way to many D's and F's. We as fans have every right to be impatient. How about this proposal. until the team is god we don't buy tickets. If we're going to buy tickets and make this team richer, then we get to boo and itch if they suck. Which they so obviously do.
Posted by: Humby | September 14, 2008 at 05:24 PM
Nice Marc. I agree.
Basically we have another EGOMANIAC in leaving his own Mark on the club.
People are going on as if saying this we are not big fans. We need confidence. If I played for the Fins I'd love to learn my trade from THOMAS JT and MADISON/CHAMBERS...
Posted by: James/Ireland | September 14, 2008 at 05:24 PM
TJ,
You make a lot of sense.
\I wouldn't be surprised if this team looses its first 5-6 games so no I doubt they'll beat NE next week.
Folks, this was a 1-15 team....took many years of bad drafts, free agent signings, etc. to get this bad...it's not going to get better overnight. One good preseason a season does not make. :o)
Posted by: teezeepan | September 14, 2008 at 05:24 PM
maybe we aren't paying them enough?
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 05:24 PM
Will Allen close but never THERE to make the play.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 14, 2008 at 05:24 PM

Posted by: Looking for #13 | September 14, 2008 at 05:25 PM
if we can keep them from scoring on 1 drive it would be great
Posted by: dmac | September 14, 2008 at 05:25 PM
Armando...little help here, carolina and jacksonville were better in year one than the 2007 or 2208 phins...true?
Posted by: | September 14, 2008 at 05:25 PM
Humby,
Just how many of these teams that turn it around in one season has been consistently good? Not many.....I don't like to see the Fins this bad either but I would hope that they build to be a consistent winner like Indy, NE, SD than a one year cinderella.
Posted by: teezeepan | September 14, 2008 at 05:26 PM
LOL: WQAM playing a "New Beginning-Buy Season Tx" ad during the break--HAH!
Posted by: C. Little | September 14, 2008 at 05:26 PM
Question: I don't think the lack of explosion if from carrying too much in the preseason. It just is far as I can see. He hasn't carried enough to lose it.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | September 14, 2008 at 05:26 PM
But how are the Dolphin cheerleaders doing?
Is this a case of "Bring it On" where the REAL story is the cheerleaders and not the football team?
HAHAHAHHAHA.
Posted by: Mo | September 14, 2008 at 05:26 PM
couldnt agree with you more Humby

We want high-character guys like Ricky Williams...Not playmakers like D Hall!
Posted by: Marc | September 14, 2008 at 05:30 PM
I am starting to feel bad for Pennington, he signed with Miami, ohhh what a bad move that was for him. I guess now he can see with his own eyes, how bad this team really is.
