Live blog from The New Beginning [update]

It is a New Beginning!

At least that is what the billboards next to South Florida Highways keep insisting. We shall see today.

I'm sure you are all excited the Dolphins' regular season opener against the New York Jets is finally here. I know I am. The Dolphins are also. I got a call from one very excited Dolphins player very early this morning. Yeah, he noticed I picked the other team to win in the paper today.

He was awake and itching to get going but couldn't find anything to do so he started calling people to get them going. Not the kind of wake up call I expected today but that's fine.

I sat down one-on-one and did a question and answer column with Dolphins coach Tony Sparano for today's Miami Herald. It is a must read before today's game.

You'll get the answer to what he's thinking today, what he's most confident in and what worries him the most about his team. He also discusses his approach for reaching players.

The live blog will begin in the comments section at the start of the game so join me there.

Yeah!!!!! Fired up!!!!

UPDATE: WR Ernest Wilford, who got $6 million guaranteed money this offseason, is inactive today. Yikes. So much for recent improvement that coach Tony Sparano reported. But if you read that Q&A you'll understand why the coach doesn't call out players.

Cornerback Michael Lehan and rookie Shawn Murphy are also inactive.

This drive will tell us alot about this team and whether or not they have ANY fight in them...

brady hurt, his backup comes in and lights it up...anyone can QB that Patriot's team with the talent they have at WR, OL, and RB...Dolphins have the RBs, are building the OL, its the wideouts that are awful (GINN is a 4th WR who can return punts)...please get us a WR!!!

well when you trade for the nfl poster boy, it comes with benefits. pass-interference will start going your way, and you're allowed 2 extra seconds to get a play off. terrible officiating on that drive.

HEY! I have to watch the Bungholes at the Raven Idiots. You wanna talk about INEPT! The only reason its close is the Raven's are starting a high school kid a QB. He won a pie eating contest and got the week one start....

work in progress????? this is boredom at its worse!!!!!!

Eight wins? I think 5 would be considered great...

SECONDARY and CROWDER. People can have their opinions but Channing Crowder needs to be replaced.

Big Talker who says he'll do lots but when it comes down to the crunch he cannot cover the pass and there are no negative yards on Tackles.

Our Seconday is weak and Pennington is just ok for me.

The rest I think is fabulous we have a real team here and we will improve on today. I guess we all got a bit too excited....or the Jets are better then we give them credit for and this is a GOOD PERFORMANCE....Go KC come on Seattle!

Tuna has more house cleaning to do. We have some of the worst DB's in the NFL starting on D. We also need some play making WR's and TE's.

Flea flicker?

Mike Mularky back at OC

nice--failed flee-flicker

Ricky sucks

Not sure what you are drinking in Ireland, but the Jets are not a good team...

Even Michigan-shill, Jake Long lover Mandich had to admit on radio that Jets are schoolin Long. Anyone seen Matt Ryan's stats thus far?

a young team and pleanty rookie mistakes. we will be good but not too soon...

I really do not want another year of reading in the paper the day after the game about the ifs, and the onlys that could have happen. I would love to be able to see a simple win. I am a die hard fins fan, but losing stinks.

Cassel may have had a bad preseason but he schooled the Dolphin's two years ago in Foxboro too. He can play.

Quaterback who can't go deep.

chill out folks

Go for it on 4th!

Lorenzo Booker has only had one carry for Philly today (0 yards)...

Matt Ryan = 7/10 131-yds 1-td 0-int

Bring in Popinga to break farve's leg!

BS

Pennington sucks!!!!!

It looked as if the Jets had 12 men on the field, but apparently they didn't. Jets ball.

We knew when we were getting Pennington he could not go deep. I agree Rubbish. Can't throw short either.

Henne will be a great QB but will he be with us?

Pelle making plays for ATL...

phil simms is an idiot

Yeah great call on long parcells, u friggin moron. Check out Matt Ryan!!

What did Peelle do?

What did Phil Simms say?

Funny, I'm asking you guys questions now.

Lanford playing like a beast!

Chris Crocker SUCKS

dolphan, I've been a fan for 22 years and still manage to be rational enough realize this is a young team that could be good in a few years...it's called having a little bit of faith and hope. How depressing it must be to so quickly dismiss the team you so call love and bash players without justification i.e. Henne.

how many tackles and picks will our DB's miss today?

Crocker sucks!!

Has Philip Merling played today??

i'm super bummed

Ginn's moma missed a block there...

Nothing from Ginn

Box score shows Peele has one catch for 13 yards..Not sure what plays he has been making...

Ok Dudes, the TIDE is turning.

We score on this drive, get it back the next, score again, and win by one.

The TIDE is turning!!!!!!

Chris-If I recall Ricky has pretty good hands too, but Ronnie needs multiple carries to get going, but once he's warmed up, he's unstoppable!

I need a beer....

hey mike in houston, are you high, this team has sucked for 8 years!!!!!! how much patience do you expect us fans to have? Pennington looks horrible, and by the way what the hell is ricky still doing out there brown has looked much better so far, and he can actually catch teh ball and make peopel miss

Brett Favre's QB rating so far is 129.3

Every year I swear not to get caught up in the hype, but I do,& then pffft.

Brown is not as prone to fumble as Ricky is either

Phil Simms needs to shut up about how young this team is. It's one thing to be young and talented. These players will stink as much in a few years as they do now. This is worse than last year. Absolutely worse. How many receptions do our WRs have today? One?? Amazing. Just disband this freakin' franchise already, get it over with.

Ryan looking like an All Pro for ATL 9/12 161 1 TD. Turner helping out W/almost 200 YDS Rushing.

done blogging for the day you all be well
we are young
and going to be better
believe

Not exactly poetry Pete but true...

Umm, no separation at all...

bess and camarillo are our best WR's WTF!

Anonymous, you're correct, Brown is MUCH less prone to fumbling as well...

wide receivers...2 catches for 25 yards....pitiful...looks like ginn has regressed back to last year

see what happens when ronnie is in the game....

Joe Flacco just ran 40 yards for a Raven TD.
When what round was he picked in?

Bungholes BLOW!

Nice...Brown in the game

« 1 2 ... 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 »
