Dolphins lead Texans 21-20 going into the 4th Q

The Dolphins and Texans traded touchdowns in the third quarter as Miami continues to cling to a 1-point advantage.

The Texans got a 12 yard TD catch from Andre Johnson to take a 20-14 lead. That came after Johnson caught a 61 yard pass to set up the score.

The Dolphins answered with a six-play drive that culminated with a 5 yard TD run by Ricky Williams to regain the lead.

Hey CHASE get of this blog you are a moron. A team fails to stop another team from goping 76 yards in 1:49 left and allows a 4th and 10 conversion $ucks on defense.

Tragic loss. However we all knew this season would be a .500 at best. Yes the WR and SEcondary are awful, but that will be this years draft. Defensive paly-calling really terrible for this game, after all the Kudos for coach P.Yes D-mac I was worried to, guess they didn't just fall for the trap they threw themselves in there head first. More cheese Mando ?

LMAO... ANYONE GOT ANYTHING SMART TOO SAY.

Good post John. Plus, why score a TD when you have the first down? Not too 'smart and disciplined' today. Coaches included.

Here is why we lost: Ronnie Brown 13 Rushes. We are at our best when Ronnie is rnning the ball 20 times + and our worst when he splits carries with Ricky. Ronnie is obviously our most explosive player and why he isnt given the ball like a true franchise back is beyond me but 13 rushes for 50 yards is not utilizing your strength on offense.

man this loss stings

brown, kneel at the one yard line and we win!!...selfish TD

lol you people are too funny. Calling Sparano names again? Back off the band wagon huh? They didn't play a crappy Texans team they played an 0-5 team that was desperate for a win. Texas could be 4-2 right now had it not been for some bad breaks. Our offense played good enough to win but our lack of a shut down corner and true FS hurt us in the end. The season is not over band wagon chumps but if you were smart you wouldn't be getting your hopes up so high and then throwing hissy fits when this young, re-built team with a whole new coaching staff loses. It sucks but if you had any brains at all you would have realized that this team isn't going too far anyway. Please get your heads out of your asses.

Yeah our secondary did blow it... And ill admit that, but hearing things like "lets throw the rest of the season down the drain".. "We're as bad as the bengals and lions".... "GET RID OF OUR COACHES!"

FUN STUFF!

This was a tough loss but we will win again. I'm just worried about the rest of the year. Our DBs really are a huge weakness and our coaches need to wake up a little. I know its coach Sparano's first time but I know it isn't Hennings.

i'm back to not caring again, now. Another killer loss, just the same

we have seen for the last 6 years. A win, given the situation, would

have been a switch. Forget the dream of the playoffs, now. This

secondary is PUTRID!!!!! Long way to go rebuilding here.

I blame COACHING ERROR that Ronnie was not told to fall down if he gets the 1st down.

Texans outplayed us all day. They deserved the win. They are clearly the more-talented team. If it wasn't for that bonehead fumble after Penington's INT late in the game, or Andre Johnson's fumble deep in our own end...the Texans had this game easy.

Admit it folks, the Phins are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being playoff contenders this year. You all should just be happy they are able to hang in there every game.

I AGREE RONNIE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AT THE 1 YARD LINE. WOULD HAVE BURNED ALL THEIR TIMEOUTS AND STILL HAD A CHANCE TO SCORE A TD. COACHING LET US DOWN TODAY AND SO DID THE DEFENSE. THAT 4TH AND 10 PLAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN KNOCKED DOWN BY OUR SECONDARY, INSTEAD ANDRE MAKES A CIRCUS CATCH AND WE LOSE.

Not gonna give up just yet, we do have the Ravens next week at home and they have a much less talented offense.

I believe me and NYSCOTT are on the same page! W0OHOO

Anything could have happened on the offensive side. Bad FG snap, fumble, etc. I think it was a minor mistake but when the Texans are at their 41 with less than a minute left... why does our PREVENT D not PREVENT the bigs plays?? This is my biggest issue. I don't think the Texans would have had time if our D didn't give up multiple big plays in the last minute. I also agree this was a better Texans team than the record shows and they do have our #.

WE HAVE A SOLID 7-9 OR 8-8 FOOTBALL TEAM. THE GAMEPLAN JUST ABSOLUTELY SUCKED AFTER THOSE FIRST 2 SCRIPTED WILDCAT PLAYS, WE PRETTY MUCH ABANDONED THE FORMATION AND PLAYED PREVENT DEFENSE, THIS JUST MEANS WE HAVE TO STEAL ONE AGAINST A BETTER OPPONENT TO MAKE UP FOR IT, BUT WE PRETTY MUCH THOUGHT WE'D BE 2-3 BY NOW ANYWAY, STILL RUINS MY WEEK THOUGH.

Will fair-weathered fans please stop 'dreaming about the playoffs' or go away? This is 500 team at best -- before and after this game. And the DOW is going to 7000. Join us in reality. They got outplayed and still should have won. That's a good sign. Coaching errors and poor coverage by the DBs and STs same as the previous losses.

Ruins my week as well

dolphin Db's couldn't cover a bed. i'd much rather be soundly beaten, than lose a close game

We have started to fix the offensive and defensive lines but it is painfully obvious that the Dolphins need to upgarde just a dreadful secondary.... Hill is weak at best, Lehan is very average, Goodman is is awful, so the secondary and wide receivers are the next area we need to concentrate on.... Seriously guys this sucks but we are getting better. I agree that lining up with no LB's is a FING joke... And please, not one more person p***ing and moaning about if we went for two pt conversion that it would have been tied!!!!!!!!!! Even if we got it it would have been 29-23. When the Texans scored to make it 29-29 do you really think they would have gone for two points??!! They kick the point and win 30-29. Going for 2 would have accomplished zero!! Our problem is a secondary that can't make any plays!!! Hill picks the ball right in his hands and it is a whole different game. Secondary STINKS... Plain and simple...

Thats a good point regarding the knee at the 1. I dont think Ronnie can stop in that situation though, its too close to call and takes an amazing sense of awareness. Plus what guarantee is there that Carpenter makes the FG ?? I don't think we can give up on the team by a long chalk. The Ravens look crap and 3-3 will be a solid effort so far. Its our can to Can Cameron, Im looking forward to it.

I love the one guy who stated we should have taken more time off the clock prior to scoring. How the hell could we take more time off the clock when the Texans had their full complement of TO's remaining and they would have used them all. You score when you get the chance. It's not like the Texans needed a FG to win. The defense should have stopped them several times. How about knock the ball down Bell rather than try to catch it. A team loss, plain and simple. Stop frighan whining!

We will be ok. It hurts like a MF'er to watch us go up by 5 with less than 2 minutes and lose. Especially since we dominated the Chargers last week on D.

"I'm back to not caring again". ROFLMAO! Until when, next week if they win and then you will care again? Fans like you are so pathetic and make the rest of us sick. Grow up and stop f***ing crying. Some of you sound like little girls. Lose like men for christs sake. The whiners obviously have never played organized sports.

Yeah... Ronnie should have fallen down and not got the TD... You people are really out there... And I can just hear you if he did that and they fumbled the next play or missed a FG... UFB!!!!!! That is the dumbest thing I have read in a long time!!!! Fall down with and open lane to the endzone... LMAO!!!!

this team needs to learn a lot yet, including how to come back after a bad loss. we just saw a team do it to us this week so we have a good example to draw from.

3-2 we have something here, going back home. It will take a minimum

3 weeks to recover. Even if the Phins go 2-1, that leaves them at 4-4.

. That means they need to go 3-1, so it's actually 4 weeks to recover.

Amen NYScott. All these fairweather Bipolar fans are sickening. Their attitudes change by the second, minute, week and year. This is a good looking Dolphin team. If it takes losing a few games like this to get us back to the upper eschelon of the league then I'm all for it.

that being said....we're still a moderatley better team. i'm calling for 5-11. somehow gotta learn to deliver the KO punch.

Just look at the stats folks, the Texans outplayed us the entire game. Except for a few boneheaded plays on their end (like the DB fumbling back an INT he just got and Andre Johnson fumbling near the end zone), Texans had this game won EASILY.

Hey, for a little gut check here. We are just fans. Can you imagine how the players are feeling right now??! I feel for them because they worked hard and to lose in the final seconds just crushes. I have played organized sports and that is the worst feeling in the world. Next week the guys will be out for blood and the Ravens will probably too cause they just got crushed. It should be a good game but it is already time to move forward. No reason to ruin anymore time and emotion on a done deal.

Sure glad we dress Teddy Ginn every week. A real playmaker isn't he? Nice pick Camoron and Mullet... I am even more happy that we sit two WR's so we can dress future Pro Bowler Brandon London. I am SO glad we can get him out there on Special Teams. He is a differnce maker just like Ginn... Did London even play today??!! I missed all those great special teams plays... He did a great job on the Punt Return for a TD... Special Teams are once again a complete FING joke!!!!!!

Thank you to the sane people in here. We are turning the corner but need playmakers at WR, DB, and LB. Most of us knew this and are looking forward to watching our team grow in the next couple of years. Tough loss and it won't be the last. See you guys next week.

WESTBROOK HAD THE AWARENESS LAST YEAR HERE IN PHILLY TO DO IT, JON RUNYUN IN THE HUDDLE B4 THE PLAY TOLD HIM TO. I DONT BLAME RONNIE, U CANT HOLD THAT AGAINST RONNIE 99/100 BACKS SCORE THE TD, U WOULD THINK PENNINGTON OR A VETERAN LIKE SMILEY WOULD HAVE MENTIONED IT, PLUS THE TEXANS, AFTER THREE KNEEL DOWNS BY PENNINGTON WOULD HAVE HAD JUST A FEW SECONDS, OR WE COULD HAVE KICKED IT ON 3RD DOWN, ALL MONDAY MORNING QB'ING THOUGH, IM JUST VENTING, TEAM REMEMBER, IF THE TEXAN DEFENDER DOESN'T FUMBLE THE INT, WE LOSE ANYWAY

What a bad loss. We didn't deserve a win today. The defense played bad for most the game. Seems like we still have issues with covering big receivers.

Oh well, there's always next week.

We gotta find a way 2 close out the game. 4 all U guys sayin go 4 two, what for???? That makes the score 29-23, they still scored at the end, and would've kicked it to win 30-29. With a few exceptions, DolFans are the worst fans in the league and have been 4 at least 30 years. I remember a good 10 year stretch that they never sold out home games even with Marino. Many a sunday/monday were spent listening 2 games while being forced 2 watch the F'n Bills, Jerks, and Patsies on TV!!! More visiting team fans than DolFans in the stands, U suck!!! I've seen more Fins home games since moving 2 New Orleans than I've ever seen from West Palm(BTW, Saints fans run laps around most of U phony Phins fans!!!
Rant Over

so we lost big fing deal. only will make us better plus the texan are not really a 1-5 team they are much better. as for me i'll watch next week and hope. hey we hung in there till the end. honestly how many of you would have stopped at the 1. all you wanna be fans when we only win get a new team i could go into the could or should haves but they outcome is we still lost. new sunday next week
it's called growing pains as for me i'm gonna wear my dolphin shirt tomorrow and flick everyone off that laughs at me cause i don't care what they say cause the fish will get the last laugh. go DOLPHINS

One last thing... that team over in Atlanta has their stuff together! I am impressed. First year QB, new RBs and they are finding ways to win. Good for them and yay Rams! I honestly thought them the wrost team of this year and didn't know when they would win. Good job on bringing the Skins back to reality.

Paul, I think it was London who set a block on Cobbs second touchdown. But Ginn somehow isn't better than a guy that hasn't made anyone miss all year is amazing

Whats Up Losers?

Sorry, wrong blog.

Yeah our special teams and DB/WR is a big worry, but this will be addressed in next years draft that bwas always the plan. Im p!ssed off like the rest of you but I don't doubt thst we will beat the Ravens and go 3-3. The Texans owned us and deserved to win that game big time. The DB's and the WR's could be swapped around and then maybe we could get some production out of them.

now we'll probaly have to watch this crap on NFL replay...

Who cares. The Dolphins weren't going to make the playoffs this year anyway. So who gives a sh*t if they drop a few close ones.

More Losses = Better Draft Position.

I wouldn't be surprised if we try to pick up another free agent CB before the trade deadline. We have all whinged about the terrible safety play but our CB's are easily the worst in the NFL. How much respect will coach P habe in all the Blogs this week. Our D had a good front seven, just get Crowder out of there, he could be traded for a WR. Reggie T looks better and has the Superbowl pedigree.

I don’t know who’s the biggest moron the coaches or the defense for not calling a time out
How can you not see that play not coming?

Just came from the game...we got our asses handed to us in almost every facet of the game - blown off both lines, etc. We're not a good team yet, can't expect to win when we play poorly. Its pathetic that Ted Ginn does nothing. They must find something for him to do.

I was depressed even before the 4th down play even happened because on 3rd and 2 I could see that the middle was WIDE open and knew that Schaub and the Texans must have seen it too. Schaub actually looked like he was tempted to run it in on 3rd. I swear, I even told my wife, "We're dead, we're going to lose. I gaurantee he's gonna run it up the middle, it's wide open." Then, when they lined up a feeling of hopelessness and dread came over me. When it happened my wife, a dumb Cowboys fan, started cracking up. She stopped when I started tearing up the room though...

Couldn't get the game....so where's this Ginn that's supposed to be returning kicks for us?? Why "best"?? Did the Phins get stupid (like the Bears did today) and play "prevent win" D on final drive or what?

dolphins 09' draft: 1st-CB vontae davis/ILL.
2nd-WR darious heyward Bey/MD. or WR brandon tate/UNC
2nd-CB victor harris/VT or CB joe burnette/UCF
3rd-OG Kraig Urbik/Wisc.

Hmmm, guess I got my answer....Spare Ginn from gettin his ass driven into the ground on returns, but can't get the ball to him otherwise anyway, eh?

It's going to be a long week for the special teams coaches and players. Sparano is going to go through these guys as well as the secondary coaches and players. On offense is it time to activate Anthony Armstrong from the practice squad yet ?? Someone put up an arguement for keeping Derrek Hagan, I bet you can't, whata waste of roster space !!!!!

That loss has to go to the caching staff they blew it.

Patience....it's gonna take more than one draft guys.....

HEY, CHASE, AND CROCKETT, THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS JUST ABOVE THE SHIFT BUTTON. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A MORON WHEN YOU POST, TRY DEACTIVATING IT. I don't really have issue with what you have said so far, but everyone will automatically judge your IQ as being far inferior for the caps thing.

Several issues with this game:

Everyone is on the D, yet if we had just defended on that punt, we would have had a better chance to win, as well. Also, that long pass that set up their first TD on Offense was poorly defended. Lehan went for the ball, not the body, and got his shorts toasted. He had no safety help, so should have played the man, not the ball. I don't have issue with Bell's efforts on that fourth down play, as he was in position, and made Johnson make an incredible catch, instead of an easy one. What more can you ask for? and one last big one(Chase, and Crockett, this is what the caps lock is for: adding emphasis to the IMPORTANT part of what you are saying): HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE A SAFETY SPYING ON THE QB ON FOURTH AND GOAL, WITH SEVEN SECONDS LEFT? Clearly it is no longer a pass only down, like first, second, and third downs, because if they didn't make it, the game was over anyway. Just before the snap, I took one look at their O lineup, and said "Watch for the QB sneak." I lied, one more: Why don't you put Henne in for a hail mary, rather than attempt a lateral play? Darn it, I still have more: I agree that we should have gone for at least one of those fourth, and one's. We should have also not used the time outs, and ran down the play clock, while in the hurry up part of the last drive. I don't think downing it on the one was the right thing to do. If you can score, score. Those saying going for two was right, had we done so, they would have kicked the extra point, not gone for two themselves. We still would have been down one.

Tree all of those were excellent points. It was a team loss and all phases were really beat. The coaches made some huge errors, the lines were not as dominant as the last 2 weeks, the DBs kept giving up the huge play, the Wildcat was just gimmicky this week, and we won the turnover war 4-1 and still didn't win. We will get better and there were some good plays.

The DBs did get 1 int and another TO from Johnson. Penny was efficient at key points. There was some good but they all have to learn and improve. It's still a very good start to the year.
