Stay tuned for Ronnie Brown the passer

The Wildcat offense is seriously freaking the NFL out. Thursday, Dan Marino was at the Dolphins training facility to do a story for the CBS pregame show which will feature the Dolphins' recent success and their Wildcat offense.

Friday, ESPN is sending Cris Carter to the facility to do pretty much the same story. It's Wildcat this and Wildcat that on the pregame shows Sunday.

On Showtime's Inside the NFL this week, former Raiders and Bucs defensive lineman Warren Sapp went off on the Dolphins because of the Wildcat offense. He basically said he was offended by Miami's use of the offense.

"This is disrespectful to all defenses," Sapp said during the show's round table discussion. "It's disrespectful. You're taking the best player in the game, the quarterback, and you're putting him out wide, outside the numbers and you put the running back in the back. How the hell you going to pass the ball?"

A couple of things, fellas and ladies: Ronnie Brown can pass the ball. And he's getting more proficient at it because he's been doing it more in practice.

I've been told the Dolphins have been working more with Brown throwing out of the Wildcat formation this week. In fact, when the team is warming up in individual drills, Brown takes some repetitions with the other quarterbacks.

And then, obviously, he throws the ball when the Dolphins are working on pass plays out of Wildcat in practice. So look for that to show up this week against Houston.

And there is the irony in all this.

Sapp, who obviously doesn't know Brown already threw a TD pass out of the formation against New England, will have to eat his words if Brown starts slingin' it more often. And if it happens in Houston, it will come at the same venue where Brown infamously had a pass batted on a potential game-tying two-point conversion try two seasons ago.

Can hardly wait.

Sapp seems to have many many stupid and ignorant "OPINIONS."

But what Sapp needs to remember is that

"OPINIONS ARE LIKE RECTUMS, EVERY A$SH*LE HAS ONE!"

Sapp: "Waaa! They're disrespecting us! It's not fair! Waaa...!!"

Please...

I'm actually surprised the formation generates so much attention. It's no advancement - in fact, its a regression to a high school and pee wee offense where the single wing is prominent.

It is pretty basic. They use base personnel (+Ricky) in a power formation. Just like NE emptying the backfield wiyh 4-wide. One screams pass, the other screams run. Both give their personnel a chance to succeed. The fins are putting two of our stronger run blockers (Carey & Long) together and then forcing them to cover Ricky wide and Brown up the gut. Heck, Tenn has run this already with Vince Young, and Atl ran it with Vick. But Mia is finding a physical identity by declaring the run and then pounding the defense anyway.

Its fun, for sure. But its not revolutionary.

I love the Wildcat formation, and I like the inside info, Mando. Good work! Much appreciated!

Hey Armando, I am a BIG Fins fan from New Haven, CT home of Tony Sparano and Donald Thomas! I have been watching these guys and they definitely carry the persona of the peeps from my neighborhood, tough and mean. I was wondering, Do you know what streets they lived on? I think Sparano lived next door to me! Hill Side!!

Really mr. 742? REALLY? Cut Chad Pennington, the best QB we've had since Marino? I'm at a loss for words on this one.

This one to Ronnie. Sorry I doubted you dude. I crapped on you in this column and you have certainly proven me wrong in the last couple of seasons.

Change the name of the team from Dolphins to Wildcats. (seems meaner anyway) Just kidding

To the one or two of you criticizing Armando for reporting what he's been told, did it ever occur to you guys that maybe the folks that are spilling the information should be the ones you are mad at. I'm also wondering if it is really a big secret that the Dolphins are working ronnie to pass more efficiently? Isn't that kind of logical to figure out. And don't you think other teams are figuring it out too?

Hey Sapp. SHUT UP! If the wildcat works, its up to the defenses to stop it. Whether the QB is back there or not, the defenses job, for which it is paid handsomely, is to stop the offense. So, by your logic, if a team runs the ball well, and keeps running it, then it is being disrespectful to the defense. Please. You need to address the issue of how to stop the wildcat -- oh, wait, you haven't thought of anything, so the best you can do is call the wildcat is disrespectful. IDIOT!

i referee football and the last two weeks, high school teams have lined up in the wildcat and had various amounts of success with it...seems like it's catching on everywhere

I am very concerned that this info getting out will enable the Texans to effectively counter the Wildcat. I am scared

doesnt matter what we write here about the wildcat, its unpredictable, when there are so many different variations out of that formation that the fins can go into. San Diego had two weeks to prepare for us after having debuted the formation and still couldnt stop us. And lets face it the chargers defense scared me a lil more than the 26th ranked Texans defense. Ridiculous how we are 3 point dogs in this game, fins win 24-14

That shows you the real "U" and their ex-players. Never changes, they make the $$ and talk crap!

Armando have you heard any of the rumors that the Gators Percy Harvin has talked to Miami Dolphins' recruiters recently? Is there anyway you can look into that and kindly let us know the validity of the statement? Thanks.

wow, what next to add? Hating on the wildcat..w/e let them. It works, and will continue to work until defenses figure out how to stop it! He's just hating cause everyone is on the bandwagon about it and his sugar level is probably low. Cant wait to see what Dan Henning n the staff figure out to do with Brown next!

Could it be that PIS KNOW Armando is and KNEW he would start revealing all trying to look smart with some "inside info",concerning the team he covers mind you, but in fact USED HIM to spread false info?

LMAO..just how ironic is that?

I can just hear BP now.."Hey Tony, tell "the scoop"(Sparano knew EXACTLY who he was referring to) to look for Brown to be throwing it alot out of the Wildcat and have Brown take some practice snaps with the QB's while he's there just to give it that little bit of extra validity because you know he will blog it as soon as he gets back to the office but NEVER tell "the scoop" anything that might hurt us because he'd rather have a scoop even at the risk of leaking what were wanting to do."

WATCH OUT for Ronnie! We all know what that means! Ronnie was about to hit his stride when he sustained his knee injury. The wildcat was the right perscription as it allowed Ronnie to push his knee and gain confidence in it. Ronnie is now free to run natural. He's got to be at 95 percent now, and is only going to get better week after week!
WATCH OUT for MR. BROWN the one and only WILD-CAT himself!
GO FINS!!!!

Any live feeds? Fins fan stuck in Michigan!

Just so everybody knows, we lost the game because the Coach instead of going on a Fourth and 1, he decided to challenge the play thinking that we had a first down. That was the momentun changer for the dolphings. So don't blame the interception that should have been cautht, or not having a line backer in the middle when Matt scored. Blame the lose to the coach for not going for it. No of this would have happend.
