The Dolphins have signed guard Matt McChesney off their practice squad and waived guard Evan Mathis. Mathis has been sharing time with Ikechuku Ndukwe, but that hasn't worked out too well.
So Andy Alleman, the backup center, should get his chance to play at right guard this week. McChesney, a first year player out of Colorado, also could get an opportunity.
---------------------
Derek Hagan, waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday, had a workout with the Minnesota Vikings today. No word yet on whether he was offered a contract.
--------------------
Guard Justin Smiley (shoulder) is the only Miami player on the injury report. He is probable.
The Seattle injury report has WR Deion Branch (heel), TE Will Heller (knee), and G Floyd Womack (foot) listed as questionable. WR Koren Robinson (knee), LB Lofa Tatupu (groin) and FB Leonard Weaver (foot) are probable.
--------------------
Coach Tony Sparano when asked if he believes he was made to be a head coach rather than a position coach: "I never came into this league to be a position coach. I came into this league to be a head coach. I have an opportunity right now and I'm not stupid. I know that this is just an opportunity. I'm going to work my tail off to try to do the best that we can do here for the Miami Dolphins."
Gotta love this guy.
--------------------
I will be on radio Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. and I intend to break down the Dolphins midseason report card. Maybe you'll agree with my grades. Maybe you won't. We'll discuss. You can listen at 790-AM locally or 790theticket.com online. You can also call into the show toll free at 1-888-790-3776.

Great job, Mando.
I love the Sparano quote. PLEASE tell me that the Fins took a pass on MeAngelo Hall!

Man the right guard spot is a mess. Mathis goes from starting one week to cut the next.
Ranger180 - Hall has agreed to terms with the Redskins. The Dolphins were never in talks.

Sparano is the man. I love his no nonsense approach and I think players respect that. With Marino, Madison, and Thomas jerseys hanging in my closet, I'm not sure which jersey to get next given the revolving door we have seen from the new regime. Maybe a Sparano jersey??

Tony Sparano is one of the many great things to happen to the Fins in 2008!
Dolfans, get out there this Sunday and support the team!!

Sparano is the man!
Thanks for the update, Armando!
Oh, and on Hall, I actually really want to see the Dolphins at least work him out. They need a corner, and he was one of the best when he played for Atlanta.

The RG basis right now is Ndukwe (in the absence of Thomas). I think Mathis can not beat him, so he is gone. Next up is Alleman, then McChesney and whoever they sign next until someone beats Ndukwe. Then the competition goes on with the new guy as basis. This happens to all positions in the team. Good way to improve the Dolphins' talent.
I heard Hall signed with the Redskins.

Hall signed with the Skins and if he plays decent they'll lock him up long term.
FYI, Hall grew up around DC and was a Skins fan growing up. So it seems Washington would be his first choice.

Also on the Seattle injury report:
QB Matt Hasselbeck (back), DL Patrick Kerney (shoulder), DT Red Bryant (ankle), LB David Hawthorne (calf) are listed as 'out'.

Thank the Football GODS for the TRI-FECTA!!!!
All Dolfans need to take a look at NFL.com and look at the injury report for all this weekends games and you'll see why I'm thanking the Gods. Every team has a boat load of injuries the DOLPHINS are the only team with one injury , and he's still planning on playing!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! GO PHINS!!!!

I've been a huge Sparano fan from the beginning. Ofcourse I was one of the guys shouting "just give Cam a chance" so what do I know. But you could tell from this guys backround that he was a hard worker so we knew he would do some nice things that way. He also never minced words and has been a straight shooter from the beginning so you have to respect him that way a bit. I'm really starting to feel him now, out there, the way he is getting better with some of the things he's doing as a coach, that way ,you have to love it. Go get em' Tony and don't ever change who you are that way. Not for anyone because we're all starting to feel you a bit,, THAT WAY! :) But seriously, Sparano is the man!

Oh now the name shows up, nice.

Armando, did I read somewhere that McChesney was a DT in college and was converted to OL with the Jets? So is he a position flexible guy on both sides of the ball? Sparano seems to like that.

We need to thank the TUNA for our empty injury list. Tuna tolerates no nonsense. Without the Trifecta we'd have a long injury list like most other teams. I can see it now ... all kinds of painful things like hangnails, pulled groins and, of course, Teddy Ginn, Junior's chronic vaginal yeast infection.
Posted by: Son of Nitchke | November 07, 2008 at 08:03 PM
What is your thoughts on the constant change of receiving corps. receptions? I watch the game and understand that they may double team Ginn for allot of the game, but he seems to be open quite often. Why don't they get him the ball?

Ted ginn hasnt missed a game due to injury so that poster above and most ppl i gotta say i dont get all the jokes and hate towards this kid he works hard has good attitude and is just a 2nd yr player at a hard position to learn and is getting better daily..go find another fav whipping boy cause in 2yrs y'all be on his jock

The team chuggs along each week getting better and better. Playoffs are still 8 games away and we have a great chance to be in the mix. Who knows, we could even win the division. Now that would be something, worst to first.
Sparano is the man.
Posted by: klndry | November 08, 2008 at 05:34 AM
They could win out the rest of the season with the schedule they have remaining. 12-4 would be amazing! If we beat the Pats, Jets, and Bills we will probably win our division. i Can't wait for the Phins to beat up on the Seahawks and Raiders.

Could you imagine Pennington throwing 2 to three TDs a game and winning MVP with the best completion % ever and a trip to the super bowl. It would be the greatest sports turn around in the history of sports prolly. I see us atleast sticking with Pennington and going for the playoffs and winning it all as underdogs for a few more years because we are darn close to being as good as the top few teams.

Good blog here. No Mando hate (at least not yet), and we got some regulars (NYScott, Mr. Bungle) posting! All we need is Tree2691, and all would be right with the universe.
Looking forward to the live blog on Sunday.
